Description

And so they stood as one back to back, eyes locked on their common foe. Surrounded, outnumbered, and with no chance or quarter to be given they drew their weapons and smiled.

"Outnumbered?", they thought, "We have them right where we want them."

So I had fun with this though I spent "a lot" of time on the attempt figuring out how to best learn and translate the idea to tangibility. I lost track at 57 hours in, but I know I was above that especially when it came to trying to grasp shading. I still really need to work on shading and texturing. In addition I've been working on a little fiction story to accompany this work. It isn't finished, but I wanted to get this up here as I've had this done for roughly a month now. I'll have the story updated here within the next few days.

I thought of trying to do a previous work idea, but updating it in a way that was more in line with what I wanted to do in the first place. I made sure to get Rholt, SoldierBrony, RandomLullaby, and DanishDash in here and in a way I felt worked out. Looks good, feels right, and just works. I'm planning on a larger one sometime in the future whe I feel like tackling it.

I definitely took quite a bit from this attempt and I'm hoping that I can continue with this level of ability as manes, fore-legs, and shading/light sourcing as these I find to be the hardest components for me to understand. I do get it, but being able to bring it out in a way that isn't a mess is the issue. I'll keep attempting though. I will say that the eyes and the weaponry came out quite well for this attempt and overall I really like this work and how it turned out. I definitely went all out with the detailing again as well.

We'll see what the next brings and my hope is that it will be on par as well. As always feedback is appreciated.

Time taken to put this together - Over 57 hours for sure
Time taken to understand a bit about shading, also how to shade - Way longer than I wanted and still going.
Time taken for staring at this thinking whether or not to put it up as it was, and/or to want to add more - About a month

I also just noticed that I'm the shortest.
